Hair

So Creightons hair has been a big deal for us.
He was born with LOTS of it and it grows very well and, if I might say, beautifully! BUT....we've had some hair issues. You know (from previous posts) when I cut his hair it breaks my heart and I hate how it looks afterward. And its not just because I have no training or skills - which I don't - but it's just because I really really love his hair and if I had it my way, I'd never cut it.
Look, HE even likes to spend time admiring his beautiful hair!

BUT....

When he stayed at Grandpa & Mimi's last fall, they cut his hair because they thought it was getting in his eyes.
And when he stayed at Poppy & Dee's, they pulled his bangs back in a hair barrette.Yes, that's my BOY with a girl clip in his hair. See how much he hates it?!?!?
But I realize it is time for a real hair cut. Especially after THREE stupid ladies at the mall indoor playground called him "her" or "she" even though he was dressed in a very manly basketball shirt.
So we took a "before" picture...my sweet little shaggy dog!and then took Creighton to the kid hair salon.

They had cool toys there so Creighton enjoyed playing until it was his turn for a haircut.

Finally, they're ready for Creighton! They had a cool yellow taxi cab for him to sit in. He liked steering the wheel! Creighton got to wear a cool superman cape.

And, much to our surprise, he did GREAT in the chair! NO CRYING AT ALL!!! He even helped with some style decisions...

"hummm, a little more off the top I think..."

"yeah, just a little off the top"

"oh no no no, not that much! scheesh. i said just a little, lady"
"Well, okay! It's perfect! I love it! Thank you, ma'am"

And the good news is that Mommy & Daddy love it too!

What a relief.

The rest of our lovely Saturday!

The weather today was nice. Cloudy, but not too hot and not too cool. So after the haircut we went to Turtle Creek to see ducks. Well, we didn't see many ducks, but we explored and had lots of fun anyway!

I'm so glad we did this on a day that I had my camera with me. I got some great shots that are now my current faves. It was a great family day for Team Seghs.

Even got a shot of me with Creighton. A rare moment to get my picture made!

And this one might be my new ultimate favorite! Such a sweet boy. And now he has good hair, too.

Baby # 2 - 16 weeks pregnant

I've been feeling "flutters" for about 2 weeks now. Isn't that feeling so incredible?!? To me, its THE ONLY good think about being pregnant (except for the result, of course)! Now the flutters are turning into taps. I laid in bed this morning and felt some really good and sweet little taps here and there, especially when I roll from one side to another or when I lay on my back for a little while. It's even cooler, now that I have a better idea of who the flutters and taps are coming from!

That little rascal, our baby #2

So last week (Thur, Feb 11) we took a look at this little tyke to see if the baby was a boy or a girl. The stinker was being all shy and wouldn't show us his or her goods. We tried over and over to get a look-see, but this baby's tiny hiney was all tucked up and it was impossible to see. Here is our picture of baby #2 last week

This week was my scheduled perinatologist visit. We spent quite a long time looking at baby, measuring leg bones and arm bones, counting fingers and even checking out the teeth buds. And of course we took a look at the "downtown" region and.....................

This is our little girl!!!!

I've had a feeling since we confirmed I was pregnant that this was a girl (why else would I feel so miserable? Girls are hard on their mothers!) but Dave was convinced it was a boy until last weeks visit when the baby wouldn't cooperate...since then he's been "preparing himself" for the news that this baby is a girl. We are both excited! We really didn't care one way or the other if this was going ot be a boy or a girl, we just really wanted a clean and healthy report from our doctors (which Amen! we got, as far as they can tell). Now we have to get to work explaining to Creighton that he's going to have a baby sister and start putting some pink into this house. Oh, and we have to get to work on a name for this little darling!

*I have this incredible video from the perinatologist's sonogram and I tried for HOURS to upload it and there seems to be something wrong with the conversion, so you won't be getting a zoomed-in shot of her "lady business" like we'd planned. Sorry the only think you get to see is her creepy skeletor shot!

Snow Day!

A record 12 1/2 inches of snow!
WOW! I didn't want Creighton to miss out on this, so Rachel took him out in the back yard for a little snow experience. Seemed like he was pretty curious at first. Or maybe he was just happy to be out in the yard again, since it's been raining so much and it's been a while that he got to play outside.So they explored the snow some and then Rachel sat him down to show him how to make a snow man....that didn't go over so well...it was cold and wet!Maybe if we had the right clothes and gear he would have enjoyed it more!

Paci Update. Who Knew?

Who knew it would be so easy for Creighton to get off the paci?!?

The first night he cried some before falling asleep, but he slept through the night and woke up at his regular morning time. The 2nd night with the "broken" paci's, he fussed just a tiny bit but went right to sleep, so it was really a minimal issue. Naps have been a little more difficult, but overall the adjustment has been so easy. Tonight, we put him to bed without a pacifier at all and he didn't seem to mind one bit! So now we are throwing all pacifiers away.

Well done little Creighty Todd. You are such a good, good boy!

Mother of the Year

I'm gonna win mother of the year award!
I know its early into 2010 to be claiming this award already, but as of today, I am officially the best mom for sure! This morning I "let" my 15 month old slice his finger on a razor blade while I brushed my teeth. I spent 1.5 hours trying to stop the bleeding and every time I took off the gauze to put on a bandaid, it bled lilke crazy. So I finally just put him down for his morning nap with no bandaid or anything so he could just bleed all over his sheets and his lovie. And of course, this happened just 2 days after we cut the tops off all of his pacifiers so he was really easy to soothe this morning! Oh, please, hold your applauds, cause here's another good part. He bled ALL over my favorite white t shirt, the only one I can wear with this expanding belly, and as my poor child is suffering and crying, I had the audacity to think "dang, this is ruining my shirt". I took pictures of the mess so I could show my husband what I (I mean our son) had to endure. Thank you, thank you, other mothers! May you one day strive to be as wonderful as me!

Only a child this precious would forgive such a mother!And future note to self: Creighton can now reach into our bathroom drawers. Daddy's razors need to relocate!
