4 weeks old today!

So much can change in just 4 weeks.

Creighton is now 8 pounds 8 ounces of snuggles and 21 1/2 inches of perfection!
And we love to laugh and play!

Can life get any better than this?
(well, yes, the baby acne did show up this week, and the reflux has gotten pretty awful, but we still think CT is the most adorable thing in the world!)

Silly Faces

Sunday Dave and I took Creighton to a professional photographer for newborn pictures. The photographer likes to shoot the babies naked. Dave got peed on twice. Creighton saved the poop for me...all down my shirt and jeans! But it is going to be so worth it - I know we got some good shots! Meanwhile, with our highly trained photographic eye, we've captured Creighton in some of his more expressive moments....sometimes, it's good to just be silly!

Gig 'Em

Today is the A&M vs. Baylor game. I sure wish I could be there with my family and friends. And even though the game isn't on TV, I'm all dressed up and ready to cheer for the Aggies!!

And I'm working on my offensive strategy for the Aggies as you can see here, so I'd better keep this a short entry and get back to studying the plays.

A few "firsts"

As of yesterday, Creighton has started focus on faces when someone is holding him. He looks at the person and listens very intently. Its amazing to watch him grow and change overnight. I love holding him and watching him watch me!
Below are a few other "firsts" we were able to capture:

His first real bath!
Creighton fussed a little but didn't seem to mind it too much. We are going to try again tonight as soon as I finish this blog.

His first trip to daddy's office.
Creighton made a surprise visit to his daddy's office and daddy proudly showed him off to the staff and even a patient! Creighton attracts attention like a movie star : )

His first playdate.
Carter Sims is 2 months older than Creighton and he came over to visit wearing an outfit that Creighton has, too. So Carter's mommy, Sheaffer, and I dressed up our boys and played photo session. They even wore matching socks. It was a ball. Yes, Creighton is the one on the left with all the hair (sorry for mentioning that, Carter!)

First trip to the store.
It was Target. Then BabiesRUs. He slept. Guess he's not a shopper. Takes after his daddy.

Creighton the "Bean"Stalk

Friday Creighton saw his pediatrician again. He grew and inch since his birth...a whole inch! And he now weighs 7lbs 8 oz. So he is a growing beanstalk for sure. Guess his nickname "bean" was appropriate. Obviously, eating is not a problem for little Creighton. Sleeping is going okay...sometimes he'll go for a 5 hour stretch in the night, which is just heavenly. And then we've had 3 episodes of him not going down well at all. We check everything and it seems he just wants to suck on something. He becomes obessed with sucking. So we gave him the pacifier. Of course when it falls out he's seriously angry and wants it back asap. I'd be frustrated, too, if the one thing I wanted was just centimeters from my face and I couldn't work my hands and arms to get it! But we are working through those moments, and they have been few, so I really can't complain.
We took Creighton to a restaurant already! Friday night we took him to this quiet, romantic Italian place that I love (Bruno's) and I'm sure the pianist and other patrons were freaked out when they saw an infant coming into the place. But Creighton slept the whole time and was just perfect. Just goes to show I really can't complain!

It's already been a week!

Creighton turned 1 week old yesterday. Time sure has flown by. On the one hand, I feel like he just got here, but on the other hand, I feel like Creighton has been in our lives forever.

Over the past week, we've had many visitors and we've enjoyed showing off our little man to our friends and family. Creighton has been a true delight; he seems to be a good eater and sleeper...we pray that lasts! He sure is smiley little guy, though : )

To catch you up on what's been happening, we got home from the hospital on Thursday October 30th. That first night was pretty rough, as to be expected. Creighton screamed and cried a lot. We had to take him to the pediatrician the next day because of his jaundice and we discovered why Creighton was having such a rough time...he was starving, poor little dude. My milk was delayed in coming in because of the blood transfusion and his doctor advised us that Creighton had lost almost a pound since birth (about 12% of his body weight). He went from his birth weight which was 7 lbs 6 oz down to 6 lbs 8 oz. And his billirubin level had therefore increased. Luckily my milk came in on Friday afternoon and so Friday night was marathon feeding, literally every hour on the hour. I was so exhausted on Saturday from delivery, anemia, and no rest, but was so delighted when the pediatrician told us Creighton gained 3 ounces in less than 24 hours! And his billirubin levels had already started to decrease. Since then, our little man has been a steady and good eater, which has also resulted in him being a good sleeper. He got 6 consecutive hours of sleep on Monday night and Tuesday night!! We'll see what happens tonight, though. I think it's a little too early for real patterns to emerge. Anyhow, it's been a great week and Creighton has brought us much joy. I hope God knows just how much we appreciate this little gift he has given to us. Here are some pictures to catch you up...

Creightons first Halloween...we vowed to get a cute family picture of us for his baby book but this is all we managed to snap. It was a rough day! He sure looks scary here

We had lots of visitors, both in the hospital and once we got home. Here are just a few of them:
Aunt Suzanne
Mimi and Grandpa

Poppy, Aunt Lula, Dee, Aunt Ashlie
Grandma
Aunt KK
Brownlee
Tina

Uncle Hung and Aunt Cindy
Poppy and cousin Brett
Cousins Ethan and Ashton
Cousin Megan and Aunt Ashlie
Mommy can't wait to get Creighton out on the town (besides just the doctors office!)

so we went for a walk around the neighborhood, wich was a bad idea...a little premature for mama. I was tuckered out afterward. But the fresh air and the sunshine was wonderful!
So for now we'll just leave it to short car trips and leave our door open to visitors!
