Happy Thanksgiving

Rachel and Creighton did a little Thanksgiving project
This is Creighton's hand print made into a sugar cookie turkey that Rachel and Creighton decorated together. Isn't she the best? And isn't his hand just the cutest hand ever?
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Why you should cut up your child's food

How cute is this?

I had to work at a seminar all weekend so Dave was in charge of Creighton all on his own Saturday. This was breakfast:

Pancakes, anyone?

Lots to catch up on

Cause we've been busy. Both Dave and I had to go out of town, separately, at the same time. Creighton got to stay with his grandparents Poppy & Dee and had lots of fun. Prior to our trips, I was sick with a really bad cold/sinus infection. Once we got back from our trips, Creighton showed up with his first ear infection. Scheesh. But we are all happy and healthy now!
-----
About a month ago, Creighton took his first steps independently. But ever since then he just hasn't been interested in walking. He is completely capable of walking but just totally has decided he doesn't want to walk on his own. Occasionally, if he's distracted enough, he will walk 2 steps and then slowly, and very controlled, lower himself to the ground. He stands independently quite often. WELL....he now officially walks. He walked like 5 steps to his crib on his own and he walked like 3 steps on his own from the coffee table towards us. He still acts like walking is the last thing he'd ever be interested in doing, but I guess now we have to say, officially, he walks!
-----
For Creighton's birthday his grandma gave him a wagon. He loves it and has been on many trips around the neighborhood in his wagon. He sometimes sees the neighborhood cats and gets very excited about them...he says "Ca, Ca, Ca" over and over and over (it's the only word he says besides Mama and Dada). But if Creighton hears a dog....MELT DOWN. The boy HATES to hear dogs bark. In fact, he even hates to hear dogs sneeze and that even makes him cry (just ask Poppy and Dee about their dog sneezing while Creighton stayed with them!). But back to the wagon, he loves it and we take him to the neighborhood park to play a lot. Here's a peek at that:

Talk about determination!

Halloween and Half Marathon

Happy Halloween! (well, yesterday of course.)
Athough we felt like we already celebrated Halloween with Creighton's party, we still had trick-or-treating to do last night
So we pulled Creighton around the neighborhood in his wagon, wearing his Halloween costume
What a perfect evening for trick-or-treating
We set up the spooky cemetary in the front yard and Dave went all out for our trick-or-treaters. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures...strobe lights, haunted music, skulls everwhere...the kids said ours was the scariest house in the neighborhood. Dave was so proud! Creighton slept through it all.
What a good, good boy.
~
And this morning we woke up to the perfect day. Half marathon around White Rock Lake anyone?
No, not me. But here is our running man before the half-marathon.
And here he is during.
Creighton and I found a spot to cheer on the runners as they passed by. I must say we did a great job cheering. Creighton clapped his hands for the runners, it was so stinking cute. Then we saw Dave running up! Yay!
He's lookin good, "strong and steady"
And here is Dave after finishing the half. Of course he finished under 2 hours. Well done!
We hung out with all the other runners after the race. Creighton was intently watching, deciding if he's going to be a runner, too, when he grows up.
Uh oh...Something's up....check out the michevious grin on Creighton's little face...
Oh! I see! Milk or Beer....not surprised at which he chose...he is our child afterall!
Dave, I know you find much reward in running, but I can tell this is your biggest reward of all...celebrating with your little man!
We are so proud of you, Daddy!

12 months

This is my official 12 month picture in my ugly rocker.
I'm waving hi to you : )

Here are my stats:
weight:
20 pounds 5 ounces
10th percentile for weight
height:
29 3/4 inches
(lets just round up and say 30 inches)
50th percentile for height

100 percent precious!
We get very busy taking all the books out of the bookshelf and spreading them all around the floor. But we are never too busy to pause for a picture!
~
Even though a lot of these next pictures look very similar to each other, I just had to show all of them because it's so cute the way he plays with all the new toys he got for his birthday.
This kid likes to play.
Peek-a-boo in his new big boy chair
Weeee!
(Looks like he's on a roller coaster. I hope he's this brave someday!)
When I saw this Lion stuffed animal rug I just had to buy it for Creighton's birthday. I'm so glad he loves it as much as I do
Where are the Lion's eyes?
Hug the Lion
Okay, wrestle the Lion
That's my boy!
We went out around the neighborhood in the new wagon Grandma gave to Creighton for his birthday. He really likes it.
Yes, he is registering on the skinny side as far as the growth chart goes but no, those aren't his ribs showing...they are his skeleton halloween pajamas.
Wagon riding is AWESOME!
Since Creighton is 12 months now, we are saying goodbye to the bottle completely. Creighton has been using the sippy cup for quite some time and really likes it, so I think this transition is going to go pretty well. I think dropping the bottle is going to be lots harder on me than on my little man. Watching him grow up is amazing and so much fun, but it's happening all too fast! If anyone has figured out how to pause time, please let me know....

One

Hi there!
I'm one today.
I entered this world at 4:20 am ONE YEAR AGO today and look at how much I've grown! I smile ALL the time and I love to laugh. I'm kinda clingy to my mommy, but that's just cause I love to cuddle and hug.
I can clap, wave bye bye, give high-fives, blow kisses, and I say "mama" and "dada" (of course, I just say it over and over; I'm not really sure who"s who) and I'm working on a few others. My parents have seen me take a few steps, but I still don't really walk on my own. I'm much faster at crawling. Although I do love standing and holding on to things and "cruising" all over. If I could pick one toy to play with, it would probably be a book. Reading is my favorite thing cause I really love to turn the pages. But I also like to play "vegas card dealer" and anything that bangs, lights up, and makes noise. Swinging and sliding are pretty fun, too.
Here I am in my modified Heisman pose!
~
I'll check back with you Friday after my doctors appointment so I can tell you about my "stats" and show off my official 12 month ugly rocker photo.
Happy Birthday Me!
